Row 2: Ch 3; dc in same st as joining; 2dc in each dc around, join w/ sl st to first dc.
Row 3: Ch 3; dc in same st as joining; *dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st*. Repeat from * around
Row 4: Ch 3; dc in same st as joining; *dc in next 3 st; 2 dc in next st*. Repeat from * around.
Row 5: (If using baby fingering weight yarn) repeat row 4 with hdc instead of dc
Crown: should be 2.25“-2.50” wide
Row 6: In back loops only dc in each hdc (dc) around leaving last 8 hdc (dc) unfinished
Row 7-?: Depending on pattern follow until width equals 2.25-2.50” wide.
Next row: With right side facing start in lower front sc around
Next row: **eyelet row ** Ch 3 (hdc + ch 1); *skip next sc; hdc in st* repeat from * across base of hat; finish off.

Row 1: With RSF find center of front of hat and count 14 stitches down from center stitch. join with sc in that st and
sc in next 27 st;
Row 2: Turn; slip st in first sc, sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc, (sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) twice, sc in next
8 sc, slip st in last sc: 29 sc
Rows 3 & 4 Turn; sl st in first sc, sc in next sc and in each sc across to last sc; do not finish off: 25 sc
Edging: Ch 1, turn; *sc evenly* around entire front opening, (leaving back unfinished.) finish off and rejoin on other
side with sc and repeat from * up side of bonnet; sl st in first sc made on edging.
In remaining loop on row 6 sl st in each loop around finish off.
